    Hi Gary and Sally,

Is there any advice you can give me about teaching in an international school in Germany? I’ve got 9 years elementary teaching experience in Canada, and I will be taking a non-teaching spouse. How much can I expect to save if I have to pay for my own housing in Germany?

Any school you would recommend in Germany?

    Thanks,
    BCGirl

    Hi there,

In our list of countries, Germany applies to Sally, and she was not in a private school, and also she was there over 20 years ago, so no doubt it will be very different now.

Do you have a job lined up already or are you just looking at the minute?

About Germany – the salary is very high, but so is the tax rate. We are not too familiar with any schools there as we are now out of Europe and mainly in Asia.

I will email you with more information later.

    Cheers
    Gary

    Hi again,

Thanks for your response! Since posting my questions I have been doing more research about tax rates in different countries and have concluded that the one’s in Europe are quite high. Singapore is on my list of cities to teach at, are there any schools you or your colleagues would recommend working at? I’m also taking a “trailer” – non-teaching partner with me, but he’s self-employed and mobile. Wish me luck, I’m going to attend the CIS job fair, hopefully in Feb. in Seattle!! Thanks so much again for your help :D
